Oyo Govt Postpones BECE Papers Over Buhari’s National Mourning Day

The Oyo State Government has announced the postponement of all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers earlier scheduled for today, Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, the decision was taken in line with the public holiday declared by the Federal Government in honour of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who recently passed away.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Bamidele Oyinloye , said the affected subjects, Mathematics and Pre-Vocational Studies have been postponed until further notice.

Hon. Olayiwola urged students, parents, and other stakeholders to take note of the development, assuring that all other examination papers from Wednesday, July 16, 2025, will hold as scheduled.

The Commissioner appreciated the understanding and cooperation of the public as the state joins the nation in paying final respects to the late president.
