Oyo State Receives Draft Climate Action Policy Plan, Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainable Development


The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, has received the draft Oyo State Climate Action Policy Plan from Noblesse Green Energy, marking another major milestone in the state's commitment to addressing climate change, promoting environmental sustainability, and driving inclusive economic growth.

Receiving the document on behalf of the state, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, described the presentation as a significant step toward building a climate resilient and environmentally responsible Oyo State. 

He stated that the journey towards climate resilience, sustainable prosperity, and long term economic transformation has truly begun, noting that the administration remains committed to policies that protect the environment while creating economic opportunities for the people.

Hon. Aderinto explained that the Climate Action Policy Plan is an all inclusive framework that requires the active participation and collaboration of all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as the private sector, development partners, and relevant stakeholders. 

He added that the review and adoption process would commence immediately to ensure that the document reflects the developmental aspirations of the state and positions Oyo State at the forefront of climate action in Nigeria.

According to the Commissioner, the Climate Action Plan will serve as a strategic roadmap for policy formulation, stakeholder engagement, climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives, project implementation, climate finance mobilisation, and the attraction of sustainable investments over the next decade.
 He emphasized that the policy would strengthen the state's capacity to respond to environmental challenges while fostering green innovation and sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking during the official presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of Noblesse Green Energy, Mr. Olu Ademuwagun, described the document as a comprehensive climate governance, investment, and implementation framework designed to help Oyo State transform climate risks into economic opportunities. He expressed confidence that the successful adoption and implementation of the policy would position the state as a leading model for climate smart governance and sustainable development in Nigeria.

Makinde Approves Appointment of New Rector, Registrar, Bursar for Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic

The Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Adedokun as the Rector of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa.
