Oyo East LG Boss, Arowosaye Mourns Alaafin of Oyo, Says His Death a Huge Loss

The Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government Area, Prince Saheed Arowosaye, has described the death of Alaafin of Oyo, late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III as a huge loss to the people of Oyo kingdom and Oyo state. Arowosaye who is currently away on lesser hajj, in a statement on Saturday personally signed by him, said he received the news of the monarch’s demise with great shock. “I received with sadness the news of the passing away of our revered royal father, iku Baba yeye, His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III. The late monarch was a great father to all especially to us in Oyo East Local Government area. He was a kind father and his leadership brought enduring peace and progress to Oyo kingdom. 3 Commissioners, Others leave ADC for PDP in Oyo

Three serving commissioners in Oyo State, a Special Adviser and some local government political functionaries, who are members of the African Democratic Congress have defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The Honourable Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun stated this in Ibadan, while addressing Pressmen on the latest move by some members of ADC in Oyo State. Olatunbosun gave the names of the Commissioners that decamped to include, Hon. Seun Ashamu of the Ministry of Energy & Mineral resources; Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi of the Ministry of Agricultural resources, and himself. Oyo To Sanction School Teachers For Exam Malpractice WASSCE

Oyo State Government has stated that it will henceforth penalise Principals and teachers fingered in any form of examination malpractices and falsification of documents by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, made this declaration, on Friday , in Ibadan, while reacting to a report, indicting some schools by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on the conduct of the recently released result in the state. Barrister Abdu-Raheem, condemned such acts of corruption and malpractices, vowing that if found culpable of such offences, the headship of such school will be made to face the full wrath of the law. Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has felicitated Muslims in the state and across the country for witnessing the commencement of yet another Ramadan fast. The governor, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, urged Islamic faithful to pray relentlessly during the fasting period.
